FRANK 010 – A Dreary Night of November | Frankenstein

(Verse 1) A dreary night of November pressed against the shuttered room, While Victor stood beside his work beneath the candle’s gloom. The final spark ran through the form that waited cold and still, And one dull yellow eye awoke beneath his triumph’s will. (Verse 2) The chest began to labour and the limbs began to move, Yet nothing in that breathing shape resembled what he loved. The beauty he had chosen turned to horror in his sight, And every dream of glory died beneath the newborn night. (Chorus) The Creature opened living eyes and reached towards the air, While Victor fled the life he made and left it waking there. Creation became terror in the instant breath was won, And all his years of labour ended with the deed undone. (Verse 3) He fell into a broken sleep and dreamed of Elizabeth, But when he kissed her smiling lips, her face dissolved in death. His mother’s shrouded body filled the chamber of his dream, Until he woke to find his work beside him in the gleam. (Verse 4) The Creature stretched a hand to him and tried to make a sound, But Victor saw no helpless life, only horror newly found. He rushed into the corridors and left the room behind, Abandoning the being born from everything he designed. (Chorus) The Creature opened living eyes and reached towards the air, While Victor fled the life he made and left it waking there. Creation became terror in the instant breath was won, And all his years of labour ended with the deed undone. (Bridge) He had desired the power to command the gate of breath, But could not face the living thing he raised beyond its death. No gratitude, no guardianship, no mercy met its birth, Only the closing footsteps of the man who gave it worth. (Outro) So November kept the moment when the silent body stirred, When triumph turned to terror without comfort, touch, or word. The Creature woke to loneliness beneath the dying flame, And Victor fled the consequence attached forever to his name.
