[Verse 1] Woke up in the chaos, another broken day People talking sideways, throwing words like grenades They cut you, they push you, they act like they don’t see But you knew what you signed up for when you said, “Send me” [Pre-Chorus] Don’t act shocked by the darkness It’s been dark since the fall You’re not here for the comfort You’re here for the call [Chorus] Be the light, be the light In the mess Don’t get mad at the dirt You were born for this When they offend, when they fail When they’re lost in the fight Show ’em the grace that saved you Shine in the mess tonight Shine! Shine! Let it burn through the night You can’t clean up the broken If you’re losing your light [Verse 2] Ten thousand talents forgiven But you choke on a dime How quick we forget the mercy That rescued our lives Jesus sat with the sinners Didn’t run from the pain He flipped the script in the middle Of all their shame [Pre-Chorus] Don’t get surprised by the storm It’s where the power comes down Your weakness is the stage Where His strength is found [Chorus] Be the light, be the light In the mess Don’t get mad at the dirt You were born for this When they offend, when they fail When they’re lost in the fight Show ’em the grace that saved you Shine in the mess tonight Shine! Shine! Let it burn through the night You can’t clean up the broken If you’re losing your light [Bridge] Yeah, the plank in my eye is heavy But I see Yours in theirs Help me love like You love Turn my anger to prayer This is the mission field Not a reason to run Lord, make me useful Let Your Kingdom come [Final Chorus] Be the light, be the light In the mess I won’t get mad at the dirt This is holy ground, yes When the world’s on fire Let Your Spirit ignite I’ll be the hands and the feet Shining bold in the fight Shine! Shine! Let it burn through the night For the King and His glory I’ll shine in the mess of life
