[Intro: single piano chord, distant room tone] [Spoken] They taught us how to win the room. He showed us how to make one safe. [Verse 1] You learned the names the others missed, The kid who ate alone at lunch, The neighbor hauling groceries in, The tired parent out of touch. You sat down low, you met their eyes, You gave a hurting heart its time. No grand parade, no perfect speech— Just kindness practiced within reach. [Pre-Chorus] So when the easy answer says, “Walk on, you don’t owe them a thing,” Remember how a gentle word Can change the shape of everything. [Chorus: shouted gang vocals] BE THE KINDNESS YOU BELIEVE! Make a place where all can breathe! Say their name, stay when it’s hard, Let a little care go far! No one small, no one unseen— Make the world a little more kind! [Verse 2] You hold the door, you hear them out, You ask what’s wrong and wait awhile. You teach the room that strength can bend, That brave can sound like “I’m your friend.” You don’t need cameras, praise, or proof, A steady hand can tell the truth. The lesson lives in what you do When no one’s keeping score of you. [Pre-Chorus] And when the noise gets sharp and fast, When anger wants to take the lead, Choose the patient, honest thing. Be the person you would need. [Chorus: shouted gang vocals] BE THE KINDNESS YOU BELIEVE! Make a place where all can breathe! Say their name, stay when it’s hard, Let a little care go far! No one small, no one unseen— Make the world a little more kind! [Bridge: piano and strings] You can’t mend every hurt tonight, You can’t make every promise true. But you can sit beside one person And let them know they’re not alone with you. A child remembers who looked up. A stranger remembers who stayed. The smallest good you do with love Can outlast the loudest thing you say. [Final Chorus: full band, gang vocals] BE THE KINDNESS YOU BELIEVE! Make a place where all can breathe! Say their name, stay when it’s hard, Let a little care go far! No one small, no one unseen— Take that lesson into the street! BE THE KINDNESS YOU BELIEVE! Make the world a little more kind! [Outro: piano and soft choir] [Soft Vocal] One small kindness, freely given. [Choir] Make a place where all can breathe. [Lead] Let them know they matter here.
