Dear Future Partner, I need you to hear this with the seriousness that it deserves. Our problems cannot be repaired with another Suno song, another promise, or another conversation about what you hope will happen. They can only be repaired by consistent action. I’ve spent a long time trying to be patient. I’ve tried to give you space to make the decisions that only you can make. I’ve tried to believe that the man I fell in love with was still moving toward the life we talked about building together. But I’m exhausted. Every day that I continue making room for your indecision, I am cheating myself and my family out of the stability, partnership, and love that we deserve. I cannot keep sacrificing our future while you remain comfortable in the present. What hurts the most is that you know what we deserve. You know the kind of partner, husband, and father figure I need beside me. Yet your actions consistently tell a different story. Your choices have shown me that protecting your comfort has become more important than building our future. I feel like I’ve become your comfort blanket—someone who absorbs the weight while you stay soothed, avoid difficult decisions, and remain stuck. That isn’t love. It isn’t partnership. It is not my job to change you. It never was. That responsibility belongs to you. Lately, I’ve watched you fall back into old patterns instead of confronting the deeper issues that keep holding you back. I don’t see someone using counselling to truly heal. I see someone finding ways to justify, self-soothe, and avoid the difficult work that real growth requires. Whatever the reasons behind those patterns, they are hurting us. My heart is broken. The way this relationship has unfolded has affected my confidence and my self-esteem. I don’t feel cherished by the man who once told me I would be his forever partner. I don’t feel chosen. I don’t feel like we’re building a life together anymore. The man I met was brave. He wanted me. He wanted my family. He talked about creating a future with us and becoming the person we deserved. I don’t recognize that man anymore. If there is any hope of repairing what we’ve lost, it will not come through words, music, or promises. It will come through sustained action. Through difficult choices. Through accountability. Through showing me—not telling me—that this relationship is worth fighting for. Because right now, I no longer believe your words. I believe your actions. And your actions have been telling me that I am waiting for someone who isn’t showing up. I love you deeply, but I cannot continue living this way. Something has to fundamentally change—not tomorrow, not someday, but beginning now. Otherwise, I have to accept that the future I believed we were building together no longer exists.
