[Verse 1] The dinner plates are put away Nobody's reaching for a coat quite yet You tap the table with a spoon I recognize the rhythm underneath it Somebody moves the little rug We found another hour hiding in the evening [Pre-Chorus] The moon is high, the road is quiet We got a little living left to try [Chorus] It's too early to call it a night Too much good in the room to leave behind One more song, one more little turn Let the candle find a little more to burn It's too early to call it a night We can take tomorrow at a kinder pace Look around at all these smiling eyes It's too early to call it a night [Verse 2] Your cousin teaches you a step You claim you knew it, nearly trip and prove it The dog decides the rug is his We dance around his very firm opinion A little lamp, a ceiling fan That's all the fancy lighting that we needed [Pre-Chorus] The moon is high, the road is quiet We got a little living left to try [Chorus] It's too early to call it a night Too much good in the room to leave behind One more song, one more little turn Let the candle find a little more to burn It's too early to call it a night We can take tomorrow at a kinder pace Look around at all these smiling eyes It's too early to call it a night [Bridge - intimate solo vocal, piano and strings] There'll be mornings full of things to do And bills and laundry waiting in the queue But this is something worth the time A room of people glad to be alive [Instrumental interlude - orchestra and rhythm section, no vocals] [Final Chorus] It's too early to call it a night Too much good in the room to leave behind One more song, one more little turn Let the candle find a little more to burn It's too early to call it a night We can take tomorrow at a kinder pace Look around at all these smiling eyes It's too early to call it a night [Outro] One more song A little more light Too early to call it a night
