(Call and response sea shanty – sing it hearty with a stomping rhythm) Verse 1 Oh we sail these wide oceans where free men roam, Heave away, haul away! No king or no master will claim us for home, Don't tread on me, boys, don't tread on me! Chorus Don't tread on me! I was born to be free! Heave away, haul away! Born to be free! Don't tread on me! From the cradle to sea! Don't tread on me, I was born to be free! Verse 2 They'll chain up your body but never your mind, Heave away, haul away! We'll speak our own truth on the freedom tide, Don't tread on me, boys, don't tread on me! Chorus Don't tread on me! I was born to be free! Heave away, haul away! Born to be free! Don't tread on me! From the cradle to sea! Don't tread on me, I was born to be free! Verse 3 No tyrant's dark boot shall crush down on our rights, Heave away, haul away! We'll fight for our voices through stormy black nights, Don't tread on me, boys, don't tread on me! Verse 4 From the masthead we see the bright banner unfurled, Heave away, haul away! Life, liberty, justice for all in this world, Don't tread on me, boys, don't tread on me! Final Chorus (louder, with full crew) Don't tread on me! I was born to be free! Heave away, haul away! Born to be free! Don't tread on me! Let the whole ocean see! Don't tread on me — WE WERE BORN TO BE FREE!
