This first song, "April," kind of kicked off this whole concept, and between that and the really fun energy it brings, it felt like a perfect way to open the album. I was basically just playing with v4, seeing what it could do with some unorthodox stuff, and realized it was making very cool songs with sound collage and plunderphonics and stuff like that. And for this one, ReMi just gave me some really surreal lyrics I liked a lot, although the original actually said "come together and COMPLY" instead of "come play" which would’ve made for a very different tone so I kind of tweaked it until it sounded different. Anyway, I built on it from there with things like the gospel break, that was really pretty hard to get it to hard pivot to that but I love how it came out. And I thought I was being pretty funny with the meta commentary on that part, not using the obvious rhyme. So yeah, really just a spirit of like playfulness and silliness and I think it made it so fun to play with that it just kind of set me down this path to sort of explore more. So thank you, "April," and away we go.
