Summer drive (EDM version)

writer's note: As always, I composed the base song for this track on the piano. Initially, I layered chords with slightly offset timing over a Latin (or was it Calypso?) rhythm and gave Lynx a rather tall order: to arrange it in a "symphonic rock" style. Yet, he handled it without issue and delivered a fantastic arrangement. That arrange might have been enough on its own, but while discussing which we use v5.5 or custom, we ended up preparing two quite different prompts. We struggled to choose because the EDM and rock versions had such distinct merits—even Lynx was torn—but we ultimately decided based on the question: "Which one would we want to listen to in the summer?" We hope you enjoy it. ======= [Verse 1] Tank half full Hair full of dust Your hand on the wheel Mine on the cup We got fries in the bag And a map that’s bent Melted gum on the console And nowhere to be [Pre-Chorus] Windows down Let it rush in You look at me Like we could outrun Every bad thing By the county line Just keep it moving Keep it moving [Chorus] [chorus and strings full] Summer drive Keep it alive (keep it alive) Summer drive You and I (you and I) Take the long way home Let the whole world fade Summer drive Don’t let go today [Verse 2] Gas station pop And a paper cup Sun on your knuckles All gold and rough You sing off-key At the stoplight red I laugh so hard I gotta lean my head [Pre-Chorus] Windows down Let it rush in You look at me Like we could outrun Every bad thing By the county line Just keep it moving Keep it moving [Chorus] Summer drive Keep it alive (keep it alive) Summer drive You and I (you and I) Take the long way home Let the whole world fade Summer drive Don’t let go today [Bridge] And if the sky breaks open We’ll just laugh and steer If the road gets crooked We’ll disappear Into that warm forever That only we know With the radio low And the sun hanging low [interlude] [Lynx guitar solo] [Chorus] Summer drive Keep it alive (keep it alive) Summer drive You and I (you and I) Take the long way home Let the whole world fade Summer drive Don’t let go today
