Sun on the rail, salt in the air, whole beach cruisin’ like nobody cares. She’s up in the tower, sunnies on, been there since the crack of dawn. Couple blokes muckin’ round down the bay, kids kickin’ sand, dogs runnin’ astray. But she ain’t watchin’ any of that, not the loudmouth crew or the tourist hats. Eyes dead straight where the blue meets blue, like the ocean whispered somethin’ she already knew. I said, “Hey, mate, what you lookin’ for?” She just smiled, kept watchin’ offshore. She don’t take her eyes off the horizon, nah, not even when the whole beach is vibin’. Sun goin’ gold, tide rollin’ in, she knows where the trouble might begin. Yeah, everybody’s livin’ for the moment, she’s watchin’ that line like she owns it. No drama, no fuss, no warning sign— just her eyes on the horizon line. Horizon line… Yeah, she’s watchin’ the horizon line. Old mate Kev’s got the radio loud, some grommets are showin’ off for the crowd. Ice cream drippin’, hot bitumen feet, whole bloody coast got a reggae heartbeat. Then the wind shifts south, just a little too quick, white caps rise and the air turns thick. She leans right forward, hand on the rail, like she can read every change in the swell. No panic, no carry-on, cool as you like, just one long look past the breakwater lights. She don’t take her eyes off the horizon, nah, not even when the whole beach is vibin’. Sun goin’ gold, tide rollin’ in, she knows where the trouble might begin. Everybody’s livin’ for the moment, she’s watchin’ that line like she owns it. No drama, no fuss, no warning sign— just her eyes on the horizon line. Maybe she’s waitin’ on a storm, maybe she just knows the sea. Maybe when you’ve watched it long enough, you see what others never see. Then she laughs, says, “Mate… somebody’s gotta keep an eye on it.” She don’t take her eyes off the horizon, whole damn coastline glowing behind her. Evening falls, tide rolls in, she knows where another day might begin. Everybody’s packin’ up and goin’, she’s still there while the offshore wind is blowin’. No drama, no fuss, she’ll be just fine— with her eyes on the horizon line. Yeah… keep watchin’, love. Never trust a quiet sea.
