# THE LAST GIANT *[Slow bodhrán. Low fiddle. Distant war drums. Building into dark Viking-metal.]* ### VERSE I — ONE BY ONE One by one, the banners fell, One by one, they rang the bell, One by one, the brothers died, Steel and blood on every side. The towers burned, the stones were black, The dead lay thick along the track. No king remained to give command— He looked around. And stood alone. ### CHORUS **HE WAS THE LAST GIANT,** **LAST TO STAND,** **LAST WITH A SWORD AND BLOOD ON HIS HAND.** **THE WORLD HAD TAKEN EVERYTHING HE KNEW—** **SO HE RAN FROM THE DEAD TO FIND SOMETHING NEW.** **HE WAS THE LAST GIANT,** **LAST OF HIS KIND—** **BUT THE LAST THING HE FOUND WAS WAITING BEHIND.** --- ### VERSE II — THE BEAST Beyond the ruins, something moved. Not an army. Not a god. Something older than the stones, Something underneath the sod. A back like a mountain, A mouth like a grave, Eyes in the darkness That refused to behave. He could have fled. He should have fled. But every road behind him Was already dead. So he climbed the ruins, Took one final breath— And jumped. Sword first. ### VERSE III — DOWN The blade went in. The beast screamed. The Giant held on. He slid down its side Through blood, rain, and hide, His sword burning beneath him As the great thing writhed and died. But the Giant did not fall. He sank. Deeper. Through the wound. Through the flesh. Through something wet and ancient That had never known the sun. And underneath the monster There was another world. Caverns without ceilings. Rivers without shores. Bones without names. And something breathing far below. ### BRIDGE **DOWN, DOWN, DOWN—** **WHERE THE DEAD DON'T SLEEP.** **DOWN, DOWN, DOWN—** **WHERE THE OLD THINGS KEEP.** **DOWN PAST THE BEAST,** **DOWN PAST THE GRAVE,** **DOWN WHERE THE MONSTER HAS SOMETHING TO SAVE.** And somewhere in the dark— A raven laughed. --- ### VERSE IV — THE WATCHERS When he climbed from the cavern, the sky had changed. A raven watched him from a broken tower. A pale deer stood where the road disappeared. A crimson shell moved through the blackened ground. And everywhere he looked— Eyes. Not eyes in faces. Eyes in stones. Eyes in antlers. Eyes beneath the water. Eyes behind the world. They did not attack. They only watched. And the Giant finally understood: Perhaps the battle had never been about killing. Perhaps someone had only wanted to see what he would do when there was nothing left to save. --- ### CHORUS II **WHO WATCHES THE WATCHER?** **WHO COUNTS THE DEAD?** **WHO KNOWS THE ROAD THAT THE LIVING HAVE TREAD?** **RAVEN IN THE TOWER,** **DEER BY THE WAY,** **CRIMSON SHELL CRAWLING WHERE THE OLD THINGS STAY.** **THREE IN THE HOOD,** **THREE WITH THE BLADE—** **THREE WHO REMEMBER THE CHOICES WE MADE.** --- ### BREAKDOWN **YOU ARE NOT THE LAST.** **YOU ARE THE ONE WHO REMAINED.** **YOU ARE NOT THE END.** **YOU ARE WHAT THE END MADE.** **THE EYES WERE THERE.** **THE DEER WAS THERE.** **THE BEAST WAS THERE.** **THE DEAD WERE THERE.** **AND SOMETHING WAS WATCHING YOU CHOOSE.** --- ### FINAL CHORUS **HE WAS THE LAST GIANT,** **LAST TO STAND,** **LAST WITH A SWORD AND BLOOD ON HIS HAND.** **HE FOUGHT THROUGH THE RUINS,** **HE FELL THROUGH THE BEAST,** **HE WALKED FROM THE DARK WHERE THE OLD THINGS FEAST.** **HE WAS THE LAST GIANT—** **OR SO THE TALE SAYS.** **BUT THE DEER KEPT WATCHING THROUGH ALL OF HIS DAYS.** **AND THE RAVEN KEPT CALLING,** **AND THE THREE KEPT THEIR NAMES,** **AND THE EYES IN THE DARKNESS KEPT WATCHING THE SAME.** --- ### OUTRO One by one, the Giants fell. One by one, the stories changed. And when the last Giant looked behind him— There was no army. No god. No monster. Only a deer. Standing at the edge of the road. Watching. Waiting. As if it had always known where he was going.
