[Intro – Gentle flute and tres] The next day, As the men continued their journey And approached the city, Peter went up on the rooftop To pray, About the sixth hour. [Verse 1] He became very hungry And wanted something to eat. But while the food was being prepared, He fell into a trance. He saw heaven opened, And something descending, Like a great sheet Held by its four corners, Being lowered to the earth. [Verse 2] Inside were all kinds Of four-footed animals, Wild animals, Creeping creatures, And birds of the air. Then a voice said to him, Rise, Peter, Kill and eat. [Chorus – Powerful female harmonies] But Peter answered, Not so, Master, For I have never eaten Anything common or unclean. Not so, Master, For I have never eaten Anything common or unclean. [Verse 3] The voice came to him again, A second time, What Elohim has cleansed, Do not call common. [Bridge – Swelling violins] This happened three times. Then the vessel Was taken back up Into heaven. [Final Chorus – Enormous female ensemble] What Elohim has cleansed, Do not call common. What Elohim has cleansed, Do not call common. [Outro – Soft female harmony] This happened three times, And the vessel was taken Back into heaven.
