1. Listen, Lord, to my whispered cry, Hear my sigh at break of day. King and God, to You I rise, Waiting for Your word to guide my way. 2. You hate the boastful tongue, the liar’s breath, The hands that plot and spill men’s blood. The proud cannot stand before Your face— You sweep them off like chaff in flood. 3. But I— by mercy’s weightless wings Will enter where Your house gleams bright. Bow low in awe, yet trembling sing, "Lead me, Lord, through crooked night." 4. For no truth lives in wicked hearts— Their throat a grave, their words decay. Declare them guilty, God! Their arts Are traps they dig to snatch the stray. 5. But let all who hide in You rejoice, Shout for joy beneath Your shield. Spread Your cover with tender voice— Love their name, their refuge sealed. 6. For You, O Lord, bless the just with rain, Favor crowns them like the sun. They walk unscathed through plotted pain— God their armor, battle won.
