Not My Cup of Ale
[Intro] Walked into the tavern, boots heavy with mud, Grabbed myself a tankard and settled with a thud, But before I could sip, he slid into the seat, A bard with a smile, said, "Miss, ain't you sweet?" He strummed his lute, sang a tune ‘bout my eyes, But his lyrics were flat, and I wasn’t surprised. Said, "Thanks for the song, but I’m here for the drink," His smile went south, but what did he think? [Chorus] It’s not my cup of ale, dear, no, not my brew, I like my tavern calm without chasing you, Your charm’s all wasted, try someone else’s sail, ‘Cause honey, men have never been my cup of ale! [Sonnet] A rogue in the corner, eyes sharp as his blade, He whispered, "Care for a dance, in shadows we’ll fade?" I sighed, took a sip, said, "I’m good on my own," But the fool didn’t leave, he just started to drone. "I’ll show you the night, where danger’s delight," But frankly, I just wasn’t feeling that bite. "The only risk here is your hopes falling flat," "So thanks for the offer, but no to all that!" [Chorus] It’s not my cup of ale, dear, no, not my brew, I like my tavern calm without chasing you, Your charm’s all wasted, try someone else’s sail, ‘Cause honey, men have never been my cup of ale! [Bridge] By the third or the fourth, my patience ran thin, A knight came a-knocking with a polished grin. "Fair maiden," he said, with armor so bright, But I waved him away; this wasn’t my fight. "Lads, take the hint, I’ve no interest to share," "The tavern wench caught my wandering stare..." [Finale] It’s not my cup of ale, dear, no, not my brew, I like my tavern quiet without chasing you, But her eyes were a spark, she made my heart flail, Turns out, a girl’s always been my cup of ale! [Outro] So the wench and I, we had quite the night, While the lads sat in wonder, caught in their plight. Next time they’ll learn, as I give them a grin, That I never was looking for suitors of men!
