Gentle sadness
Verse 1 The night sits quietly beside my bed, like it knows my name, like it knows my head. I hold my heart with careful hands, it’s tired of breaking, tired of plans. The room is full, yet feels so bare, my thoughts are loud, but no one’s there. I breathe in slow, I let it pass, another moment made of glass. Pre-Chorus I don’t cry loud, I don’t fall apart, I ache in silence, deep in my heart. Chorus This is gentle sadness, soft and slow, like falling leaves, like winter snow. It doesn’t scream, it doesn’t fight, it stays with me every night. It holds my hand, it knows my pain, it whispers softly, calls my name. This is gentle sadness, calm and blue, the kind that lives inside of you. Verse 2 I watch the world keep moving on, laughing like nothing’s ever wrong. I try to follow, try to blend, but I feel lost around my friends. I smile just enough to not be seen, to hide the space in between. I’m not broken beyond repair, I’m just alone, and very aware. Pre-Chorus There’s a weight that no one sees, resting quietly inside of me. Chorus This is gentle sadness, thin as air, a quiet truth I always wear. It wraps my soul in shades of gray, and teaches me how to stay. It doesn’t hurt like sharp despair, it’s softer, deeper, always there. This is gentle sadness, slow and kind, a fragile echo in my mind. Bridge I don’t want to disappear, I just want to feel less here. Not gone, not lost, not erased, just free from this constant weight. If healing comes, I hope it’s slow, like learning how to let go. Final Chorus This is gentle sadness, warm and cold, a tender story never told. It lives between my breath and tears, it’s grown with me through all these years. It doesn’t leave, but it lets me be, it sits in quiet company. This is gentle sadness, part of me, my silent, honest melody. Outro If one day joy comes softly too, I’ll let it sit beside the blue. Until that day, I’ll stay, I guess, holding on to gentle sadness.
