[Spoken word over soft guitar music] This is the story of the first Evangelists following the resurrection Of Jesus, listen to the tale these women tell, and rejoice that….[voice trails off and blends in verse]….He…..Is Risen…. [Verse 1 only piano as instrument] We came into the garden tomb The air still chilled with gloom The freshness of death Still hung upon the morning’s breath With home-made spices in tow Will still did not know Who to ask, what to say To get the stone, rolled away…. [Verse 2 only piano as instrument] We got to the place where the Savior was laid All night we wept, such a price that was paid He did nothing wrong, just showed us love every day Yet they didn’t care, and they took His life away But now to our shock and to our surprise Two young men standing there, said wipe your eyes You see, Jesus was here, but He’s no longer there What? What did they say, did we really hear? Yes, they replied, the Scriptures were true in the words they did tell The Saviour would be gone, but it won’t be for long, Jesus is alive, and well…… [Chorus full instruments and SFX] We looked into the empty tomb And The sight banished the gloom The grave clothes were laid aside, The earth sings out with pride And a shout fills the air, He is no longer there The words echo back down to you and to me Come my friends….oh come now, come…and see….. [Bridge full instruments, up-tempo] We left Mary alone And ran into the town The sadness all gone With a peace of…. our own………….. [Verse 3 full instruments] We sought out his friends, to tell the good news They were hiding away, in fear of the Jews But in their fear and their doubts, darkness prevailed And the story of hope fell upon deaf ears…as, an idle tale….. Oh Peter and John The story’s not done Yes, it may sound like insane fantasy, but come….and…..see……. [Chorus only piano playing as instrument] We looked into the empty tomb And The sight banished the gloom The grave clothes were laid aside, The earth sings out with pride And a shout fills the air, He is no longer there The words echo back down to you and to me Come my friends….oh come now, come…and see….. [piano outro fade to end]
