[Intro] [dry drum kit, clean electric guitar palm-muted chords, melodic bass] [Verse 1] [tenor male vocals] I wake up in a bed so big It's early in the morning and you're not there I reach out into cold thin air It's the same old story and it gets me down Last night when we last met you told me I'm the one for you You're number one [Chorus] [strummed electric guitar, driving bass] Why do you leave me here alone While you're out there having fun Why don't you just pick up the phone And dial in number one [Verse 2] [palm-muted guitar returns] I lay here in a state of despair No one to confide in and nothing to share The sun comes up and a new day begins Still no word from you, no SMS Last night when we last met you told me I'm the one for you You're number one [Chorus] [full band energy] Why do you leave me here alone While you're out there having fun Why don't you just pick up the phone And dial in number one [Bridge] [clean electric guitar solo with light overdrive] [bass and drums continue rhythmic pattern] [Verse 3] [vocals return, palm-muted guitar] I wake up in a bed so big It's early in the morning and you're not there I reach out into cold thin air It's the same old story and it gets me down Last night when we last met you told me I'm the one for you You're number one [Chorus] [strummed guitar, vocal doubling] Why do you leave me here alone While you're out there having fun Why don't you just pick up the phone And dial in number one
