[Verse 1] A pirate named Scoot Hobbles left to right Peg leg on his right Still owns the night Bright white shirt And britches full of holes Red bandana tied low On that peg leg stroll [Pre-Chorus] He jumps from net to net Like a gull on fire Every step he takes Sets the crew alight [Chorus] Hoist the Main! Hoist the Main! Scoot is barking And the crew calls back again Hoist the Main! Hoist the Main! One good shout And we’re all set to sail again [Verse 2] Captain of the ship With the wheel in his grip Tells of mermaids singing And gold in every slip Treasures in the deep And beasts beneath the foam Seven seas behind him But he still brings us home [Pre-Chorus] He points at the dark With a grin like flame “Keep your boots on deck” Then he calls the name [Chorus] Hoist the Main! Hoist the Main! Scoot is barking And the crew calls back again Hoist the Main! Hoist the Main! One good shout And we’re all set to sail again [Bridge] Wonky little crew With a few teeth left But they smile so proud When the shanty’s blessed Swabbin’ that deck With our maties close Salt in our shirts And the wind in our throats [Final Chorus] Hoist the Main! Hoist the Main! Scoot is barking And the crew calls back again Hoist the Main! Hoist the Main! One good shout And we’re all set to sail again Hoist the Main! Hoist the Main! Peg leg poundin’ As we laugh into the rain Hoist the Main! Hoist the Main! Scoot the captain And we’ll never sink today
