From the heights of the palace, the divine plains stretched beneath a strange light, too pale to belong to morning and too still to be part of any true day. The great halls that had once echoed with feasts, songs, and the quarrels of the gods still retained their splendor, but something had changed within their silence. The tapestries hanging from the arches no longer moved, the flames in the braziers rose without flickering, and beyond the walls, the wind itself seemed to have forgotten the path that led to Asgard. Odin stood before one of the openings overlooking the lower realms. His dark cloak rested upon his shoulders while his single eye remained fixed upon a horizon that only he seemed able to see. For several days, he had felt that dull vibration rising from the depths, like the rumble of a sleeping beast whose slumber had grown too light. Freya entered the hall without announcing her presence. She stopped a few steps behind him, watching the god without immediately seeking his attention. "It moved again." Odin did not turn. "I know." Freya approached the window. Far beneath their feet, something had just resonated through the foundations of Asgard. The vibration was faint, almost imperceptible, but it travelled through the stones like a shiver. "How long before it breaks?" "I cannot know." "You can always know." This time, Odin slowly turned his head toward her. "Not this time." Eir appeared in the doorway. She had heard their conversation from the corridor, and her face, usually calm, carried a concern she made no attempt to conceal. "The latest crack is deeper than the others," she said. "The runes holding the chains are barely responding." Freya closed her eyes for a moment. "Fenrir." The name hung between them. Odin looked toward the horizon again. "He is waking." "Then we must do something." "We all know what that means." "I am not talking about what it means. I am talking about what we are going to do." Freya moved closer to him, and for the first time restrained anger crossed her face. "They are approaching. You know that as well as I do. They have crossed realms that even some gods would no longer dare to enter, and now they are searching for a path to Asgard. While they advance, Fenrir is slowly breaking free. So tell me why we are standing here watching them come." Odin remained silent. "We can stop them," Freya continued. "We can close the passages, turn their steps elsewhere, send someone to meet them. We still have the power to do it." "And then?" "Then we buy time." Odin's gaze hardened. "Time." He spoke the word as though it carried the weight of an ancient memory. Freya understood immediately. "The Runes of Wyrd." The silence that followed was heavier than the rumbling rising from the depths. "Why did you use them, Odin?" He did not answer. "You separated us from mankind. You closed the paths that once connected their prayers to our voices. You let their beliefs fade until they almost forgot that we had ever existed. You knew there would be a price. So why?" Odin remained turned toward the outside, as though he were searching the plains of Asgard for an answer he had already given long ago. "Because we had to wait." Freya frowned. "Wait for what?" "For them to understand." Eir moved slightly closer, listening carefully. πŸ’™πŸ€ 𝐄𝐧𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐑𝐞 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐲 : >>> https://suno.com/song/f5b9fce3-8809-4e8a-9842-01eb2c36b4ba <<< πŸ’™πŸ€ πŸ’™πŸ€πŸ’™πŸ€πŸ’™πŸ€πŸ’™πŸ€πŸ’™πŸ€πŸ’™πŸ€πŸ’™πŸ€ The banners do not breathe The fire refuses to bend Deep under the golden fields Something is moving again I cut the road from earth to heaven Sealed every mouth of sacred stone I watched our temples sink in silence And taught their prayers to stand alone They made their terror into worship They crowned the blade and praised the scar I gave them time without an answer To learn what living creatures are The hidden roads are open Their footsteps cross the cold Would you let them reach the threshold With the ending in their hold? Every time you forget Another iron sings Every truth you leave behind Puts thunder in the deep We gave you the silence We gave you the years Not to kneel again Not to feed the fear Now the roots are torn asunder Now the oldest shadows stir You may never speak his freedom But the chains remember (The chains remember) They read the river once as kinship The forest stood beyond command The wolf was more than teeth and hunger The earth was more than conquered land Then wonder turned to inventory And reverence bent beneath their need They weighed the worth of every creature By what it gave and what could bleed Then turn their steps from Asgard Let the final passage close Place a storm before the mountain Before the breaking reaches us Not every hand comes here for wisdom Not every voice has come to learn What if they seek another master? What if they only came to burn? I will not choose their footsteps I will not turn their eyes If freedom only means obedience Then everything I gave them dies Every time you forget Another iron sings Every boundary you erase Gives motion to the deep We gave you the silence You filled it with command You took the open world And closed it in your hand Now the roots are torn asunder Now the oldest shadows stir You may never speak his freedom But the chains remember (The chains remember) I have seen a thousand endings Born from fear disguised as prophecy A sword imagined in the darkness Until a hand made it reality If I call them back to worship The wolf may sleep beneath our feet But the lesson dies between us And the circle is complete Perhaps they do not seek us Perhaps they seek the wound Perhaps they crossed the dying worlds Because they heard it too If even one still remembers What the silence meant to teach Could a mortal hand restore What lies beyond a god’s own reach? Not beast! Not judgement! Not punishment from beyond! A consequence with teeth and sinew Fed by every severed bond He does not wake because he hates them He wakes because their world does too (Below the root, the debt comes due) Every time we forget Another iron sings Every life reduced to hunger Pulls the winter from the deep No wolf began this ending No prophecy gave the word The world was breaking long before The first chain could be heard Now the roots are torn asunder Now the final shadows stir We may never speak his freedom But the chains remember The chains remember What the living world endured The chains remember Every silence Every word Let them come And then we will know Whether they came to free the wolf Or whether they became him Long ago
