[Intro] [Verse 1] On a cold October morning In the pouring London rain I was tired I was hungry I had whiskey on the brain When I found her in the doorway Of a small cafe I asked her Could you help me find my way? [Pre-chorus] And she said My place is not too far from here I've got a bottle we could share And I can give you something warm to wear [Chorus] I found a lady in the night But she vanished with the dawn She had the softest hazel eyes But the lady's gone The lady's gone She’s gone... [Verse 2] She made coffee in the morning She made love to me at night We were sitting on the floor Listening to the Beatles' "White" But I woke up with a headache I had no idea What happened to my lover of a day [Pre-chorus] And then the whole world came a-tumbling down When I heard a crying sound Her dog came crawling from under the bed [instrumental] [Chorus] I found a lady in the night But she vanished with the dawn She had the softest hazel eyes But the lady's gone The lady's gone She’s gone... [Outro] She’s gone...
