Verse 1 He stands there quietly, with tears inside his eyes. He's trying to find the words he's been carrying inside. His little hands are shaking, his voice is barely there. He looks up at his mother like she's still the safest place. Pre-Chorus And through the tears he gives her a little smile. Like he's trying to tell her, "You don't have to be afraid." Chorus "It's okay, Mom. I forgive you." "You don't have to cry anymore." "I know you weren't perfect. But I know you tried." "And even after everything, I still love you more than words can say." He looks at her with tears on his face and that tiny, broken smile. "It's okay, Mom. I'm still your little boy." Verse 2 She doesn't say a word. She just looks at him. Like she's trying to understand how something so small could carry something so big. Then he reaches for her. And she falls into his arms as if she's been waiting her whole life for that moment. Chorus "It's okay, Mom. I forgive you." "Please don't think you have to be perfect." "You love me. I know you do." "And that's enough for me to hold onto tonight." He whispers through his tears, while she's holding him so tight, "Mom… I love you more than anything." Bridge He pulls away just enough to see her face. His cheeks are wet. His eyes are red. But somehow he's still smiling. And with the softest voice a little boy could have, he tells her— "You're a mom for the first time too." "You had to learn everything." "Nobody gave you a book that told you how to do it." "You were learning while I was growing up." Final Chorus "So it's okay, Mom." "You made mistakes. I made mistakes too." "That doesn't mean we don't love each other." "I forgive you." "And if you ever think you weren't a good mom…" He smiles through the tears and holds her even tighter. "Just remember…" "You were learning how to be my mom." "And I was learning how to be your son." "We were both just learning." Outro She kisses his forehead. He closes his eyes. Neither of them speaks. They just stay there, holding each other through the tears. And before he lets go, he whispers one last time— "It's okay, Mom." "I love you." And for a moment, they don't have to be perfect. They just have to be mother and son.
