I’ve been driftin’ in a distance where the dimness gets vicious Every memory’s a mimic with a grin full of stitches In a pit with the misfits and the whispers of sickness Hear the hiss of existence like it’s listin’ my weakness Got a knot in my thoughts and it rots when I’m breathin’ Every dawn feels wrong, every reason is leavin’ See the walls all bend like they’re feedin’ and reachin’ Like the dark grew teeth and decided to eat me I’m descendin’, demented, every second gets colder Feel the pressure of forever like a mountain on my shoulders Every hope I ever held is just a skeleton holder For a ghost of who I was before the shadow took over And it knows every road, every scar, every fracture Every mask that I crafted just to keep me from shatterin’ Now it’s draggin’ me backward through a blackened abstraction Where the sadness has mass and the panic has gravity And the void keeps callin’ my name Like it wants me to stay Like the night found a vein And it’s pumpin’ through my brain I’m gettin’ swallowed by an abyss A malignant eclipse Every thought is a fist And it’s crushin’ what exists In the hollow below Where the cold currents flow I keep lettin’ it grow ‘Til there’s nowhere left to go I’m gettin’ swallowed by an abyss By a terror that insists That the pain is all there is And resistance doesn’t exist But I’m still hearin’ a sound Buried deep underground A heartbeat in the profound Tryin’ to keep from drownin’ down Got a cyclone of violence inside of my eyelids Every silence is hidin’ a tyrant behind it Try to fight it, deny it, but the giant’s still risin’ Like a titan comprised of every failure and crisis See it crawl through the halls of my neurological prison Scrawlin’ all of my flaws on the walls for exhibition Got me caught in a fog where the loss gets religion And the cost of survivin’ becomes harder to mention I’m surrounded by phantoms that are wearin’ my features Every one of ‘em preachin’ that defeat is the teacher And the creature beneath ‘em keeps on feedin’ and feedin’ Till the grief is a sea and I’m too weak to outswim it Feel the undertow pullin’ at the bones of my spirit Like it’s hearin’ my fears and makin’ music to mirror it Every tear disappears in the murk where it landed And the darkness expands like the universe planned it Black water. No bottom. No horizon. No promise. Just the sound of a mind Tryin’ not to go silent.
