。。笑 It’s a Japanese ghost-story–style song that’s both chilling and warm at the same time (´ー`). → Late at night, the wind brushes softly across the tatami. → On the veranda, a teacup gives a faint little clink as it trembles. 誰もいないはずなのに、 → There shouldn’t be anyone here, 障子の向こうから、す… → yet a gentle scent of flowers drifts in from beyond the shoji. → I hear a faint—tap, tap… as though something is being placed down. → “Who…?” --- [Verse 1] 玄関の真ん中に → In the center of the entryway, 紫色の桔梗の花が一輪 → a single purple bellflower そっと置かれていた → had been gently placed. まるで誰かが → As if someone “忘れ物ですよ” と → were saying, “You dropped this,” 届けに来たみたいに → and brought it back to me. でも → But— 家には私ひとり → I’m alone in this house, 鍵も閉めたはずなのに… → and I’m sure I locked the door… --- [Pre-Chorus] 障子の向こうで → Beyond the shoji, ふいに影が動く → a shadow suddenly shifts. 音もなく → Without a sound, ゆっくり……ゆっくりと → moving slowly… ever so slowly. 息を止めた私の前で → As I hold my breath, 花の香りが濃くなる → the scent of flowers grows stronger before me. → “No way… it’s not… a person, right?” --- [Chorus] 怖いのに目が離せない → I’m terrified, yet I can’t look away. 気配がどんどん近づいて → The presence grows closer and closer, 足がすくむ → and my legs freeze. 影がこちらへ伸びて → The shadow reaches toward me, 障子がすこし揺れた → and the shoji trembles slightly. 涙が滲むほど怖くて → Fear stings my eyes with tears, “助けて…”と心で叫んだその瞬間—— → and the moment I scream “Help…” inside my mind— --- [Verse 2] ぽとん。 → Plop. なにかが足元に落ちた → Something falls at my feet. 見ると → When I look down, 桔梗に続いて → following the bellflower 赤いコスモスまで転がっていた → a red cosmos has rolled to my toes. “どうして花ばっかり…?” → “Why flowers… all of them?” 震える手で拾うと → As I pick them up with trembling hands, 障子の隙間から → from the gap of the shoji, まん丸の…金色の瞳が → a pair of perfectly round, golden eyes じーーーっとこちらを見ていた → stares straight at me. --- [Bridge] 「…… → “…Huh?” その影は → The shadow ふわりと動いて → moves softly 障子の上に → and hops up onto the shoji. ちょこん、と乗った → Perched there, light as a feather. 羽をすこしふくらませて → It puffs its wings a little くるる、と可愛い声で鳴く → and lets out a cute little coo. → An owl!!! 昔、庭で倒れていて助けた → The very one I once found collapsed in the garden and helped, あの子だった → that same little one. 届けてくれたのは → What it brought me wasn’t “怖い花”じゃなくて → a “scary flower,” ただのプレゼント → but simply a gift, 私への「ありがとう」だったのね → a little “thank you” meant for me. --- [Final Chorus] いつの間にか恐怖は消えて → Before I knew it, the fear had vanished, 部屋の中に → and inside the room, 花の香りと → only the scent of flowers 小さな羽ばたきだけ → and gentle flutters remained. 涙が笑いに変わる → My tears turn into laughter. でもありがとう」 → “Don’t scare me like that… but thank you.” ふくろうは満足そうに → The owl, looking satisfied, もう一度くるると鳴き → coos once more, 月明かりを背に → and with the moonlight behind it, ふわりと飛び立った → flies off softly. --- [Outro] 怖い夜だと思っていたのに → I thought it would be a frightening night, “花の恩返し”なんて → but a “flower-filled thank-you” 可愛すぎて → was far too adorable, 眠れなくなりそう → and now I might not be able to sleep.
