Come Play With Me

Dark cabaret with creeping waltz pulse, feverish pipe organ ostinatos, and a crackling male vocal; verses stalk with sparse organ and off-kilter pauses, pre-chorus tightens into rising clusters, chorus swells with jubilant laughter, gang-like echoes, and sudden stop-start hits, Distorted room reverb, whispered asides, tape hiss, and a lo-fi, haunted-but-playful mix with the organ centered like a carnival ghost

V4.5-ALL

[Verse 1] I got a grin in the doorway And a key in my coat The room is all shadow and velvet And I know what you want I tickle the pedals, baby Hear that old monster sing Got laughter in my pockets And a bell on a string [Pre-Chorus] Come a little closer Don’t be shy tonight I can make the floorboards Skip and bite and bite [Chorus] Come play with me Come play with me (laughing) Come play with me I’ll spin you round And keep you free Come play with me Come play with me (laughing) Come play with me Till your fear turns sweet [Verse 2] I saw your name on the mirror Then it vanished fast I keep my hands on the keys now Like I’m chaining the past There’s a grin in every corner There’s a joke in the dark And the organ keeps on churning Like a beast with a spark [Pre-Chorus] Come a little closer Hear the trembling air If you take my hand now We can disappear [Chorus] Come play with me Come play with me (laughing) Come play with me I’ll spin you round And keep you free Come play with me Come play with me (laughing) Come play with me Till your fear turns sweet [Bridge] Ha-ha-ha, can’t you hear me? Ha-ha-ha, I’m right behind Every note is a doorway Every door’s a crooked line [Chorus] Come play with me Come play with me (laughing) Come play with me I’ll spin you round And keep you free Come play with me Come play with me (laughing) Come play with me Till your fear turns sweet
