Live With Joy

V6-MINI

I've always known I'm blessed beyond What money could ever buy— By people I have loved and cherished, By the faith I've held inside. Even when my heart was hurting, There was goodness all around. I've always known how rich I was In the blessings that abound. So I won't save my happiness For some day down the road. I've been given this one beautiful life— And I intend to live it whole. I'm going to live with joy, Laugh until my sides are aching, Dance when there's a song with a beat, Love the memories we're making. I'm going to notice sunsets, Take the long way just because, Hold the people who are with me, Tell them every chance I get they're loved. I won't wait for life to happen. I won't let today slip by. There is far too much around me That makes me glad to be alive. Whatever years are waiting, However long or short— I want to honor the ones I'm given. By living a life of joy. There are mornings made for sleeping in, Waking in Rick's arms There are roads I've yet to travel, There are grandkids and all their charms. There are songs I've yet to sing, or write, Little hands I get to hold, There are quiet nights beside Rick That's worth more than pots of gold. I don't need some grand occasion For my heart to sing some favorite tunes. I'm pretty sure heaven looks a lot like One of our ordinary afternoons. There is far too much around me That makes me grateful to be alive. Whatever years are waiting, However long or short— I'm going to cherish the ones I'm given. I'm going to live a life of joy. And some days we won't go anywhere, And nothing grand will get done. We'll sit here holding hands And watch the setting sun. In this home we both love so much, With His pictures on the walls, I'll hold him close and thank Heavenly Father— Fully aware we already have it all. Joy doesn't mean no sorrow. It doesn't mean I'll never cry. It doesn't mean that every question Gets an answer in this life. It means sorrow doesn't own me. It means yesterday can't choose How much laughter fills my living Or how much of today I lose. So turn the music up. Take the picture. Make the phone call. Take the trip. Eat the chocolate. Watch the ballgame. Hold his hand And definitely steal a kiss. Stay a little longer. Laugh a little louder. Say “I love you” while they're here. Don't be saving life for someday— Someday's already here. This is it. Not the life I had at twenty. Not some life still up ahead. Not the life that might be waiting When every question's put to bed. This one. This morning. This person. This sunset. This song. This ordinary, sacred, beautiful life— I choose this one. I'm going to live with joy, With my arms and heart wide open, Giving love without withholding, Saying words that should be spoken. I'm going to notice blessings I've walked past a thousand times, And thank God for every ordinary Little piece of this good life. I don't know how many mornings. None of us are promised more. So I'll treasure those beside me And keep walking through each door God keeps placing there before me, With His hand guiding me through. And when my journey's finally over, I know this much will be true: She lived. She loved. She laughed. She gave. She trusted God Along the way. Through the tears, And through the laughter, Through the ordinary days— She lived with joy. Today is here. And so am I. I have everything I need— And more. What a beautiful day to be alive. I'm going to live it with joy.
