After ten hours of hitchhiking from San José, Julian arrived in Panama City. His journey took him through the plains of Paso Canoas and the jungle regions of Santiago de Veraguas. Exhausted by the long heat, he was looking for a place to play. It was near the canal that he met a young man and his father, who gave him a glimpse of their city with two faces. ******************************************* © Copyright (2025) ******************************************* Verse 1 Huge buildings touch the wide ocean air, A modern wonder beyond compare. The great Canal, a monument to skill, It makes the whole world turn at its own will. I see old monuments where stories reside, Where ancient cultures proudly now glide. Chorus Warm winds softly flow. The sea begins to grow. Vibrant colors show. Where ships now bravely go. Verse 2 The Casco Viejo shows its aged charm, Protected well from every kind of harm. I walk the colonial old plazas bright, Bathed in the sun's revealing grand warmth. The air is filled with lively, rhythmic sound, Where peaceful simple rituals are found. Chorus Warm winds softly flow. The sea begins to grow. Vibrant colors show. Where ships now bravely go. Verse 3 The grand Metropolitan Natural Park, Leaving all worries far behind the dark. I see the great Bridge of the Americas tall, An entrance sign welcoming one and all. These strong local customs feel so truly fine, A special feeling, wonderfully divine. Chorus Warm winds softly flow. The sea begins to grow. Vibrant colors show. Where ships now bravely go. Verse 4 A young man smiled and his father too, Showing their world, all beautiful and new. We shared quick laughs and a simple warm dish, A great welcome, better than any true wish. They spoke of their lives with proud regard, Building with me a true, strong loyal bond. Chorus Warm winds softly flow. The sea begins to grow. Vibrant colors show. Where ships now bravely go.
