The Prophetic Servant Songs of the Prophet Isaiah. Through the prophet Isaiah God gave a series of remarkable revelations concerning the coming Messiah. These four songs are prophetic in nature. In them, you will hear different voices: the voice of the Father, the voice of the Servant, and the voice of the prophet, all pointing to Jesus Christ. As you listen, hear the unfolding story of God's chosen Servant: His calling, His mission, His obedience, His suffering, and His triumph. These four Servant Songs almost form a sacred drama. Rather than making every verse sound as though the same person is speaking, the Scriptures allow the different voices to remain, reflecting the way Isaiah himself wrote them. Song 1 – "Behold My Servant..." found in Isaiah chapter 42:1 to verse 9 Introduces us to the voice of the Father**, presenting** His chosen Servant to the world, the One upon whom He places His Spirit, who will bring justice and become a light to all the nations. Song 2 – God's Chosen Servant, found in Isaiah chapter 49:1 to verse 13 "The Lord has called Me from the womb..." The Servant declares His calling and mission: to restore Israel and to bring God's salvation to the ends of the earth. Song 3 – The Obedient Servant, found in Isaiah chapter 50:4 to verse 11 The obedient Servant reveals His suffering, His trust in the Father, and His unwavering faithfulness. The prophet then calls all who hear to trust in the Lord. Song 4 – The Suffering Servant, found in Isaiah chapters 52:13 to 53: to verse 12 Gives us the voices of the Holy Father, the prophet, and the believing people. Thus, the greatest revelation of all: the suffering Servant, the Man of Sorrows, who bears our sins, is rejected and wounded for our transgressions, yet is ultimately vindicated, exalted, and glorified. This progression in these prophetic songs is remarkable. It is almost like an oratorio: The Father announces the Servant. The Servant declares His mission. The Servant reveals His obedience and suffering. The world witnesses His atoning work and His exaltation. Throughout these songs, I have introduced the fulfilment of these prophecies through the recurring . chorus: Jesus Christ, our Righteousness,God's Elect, the Servant King. You opened blind eyes, and now we see"" This becomes the response of Christ's Church in worship, the people of God responding to the revelation of the One Isaiah pointed to and foretold. As Jesus said: "You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me." John 5:39 May these prophetic songs help us all to see the glory of God's Servant, Jesus Christ, our Righteousness.
