My Little Donnie, Three Years Old

+ Show full styles

Sit down beside me, let me tell you a tale About my little boy who is fierce and so pale He’s only three years old, but his temper is high He stomps his small feet and he starts to cry The other kids run when he walks in the park He has no friends here, he stays in the dark But he doesn't care about playing with toys He’s making big plans, unlike other boys Oh, little Donnie, just three years old With a heart so aggressive and stories untold He looks in the mirror, he holds up his head "I’m gonna be President," is all that he said He looks at the kids and he points with his hand "I’ll show you all what I’ll do with this land! When our country turns two hundred and fifty years old I’ll build a giant marble arch, bright and bold! And I’m buying Greenland, I want it today Or if they won’t sell, I will invade anyway!" He gives me a smile that is chilling and bright Dreaming of empires and showing his might Oh, little Donnie, just three years old With a heart so aggressive and stories untold He looks in the mirror, he holds up his head "I’m gonna be President," is all that he said "And hey!" Donnie says with a spark in his eye "When that big anniversary year passes by We should introduce a new bill for the state A two hundred and fifty dollar note would be great! With my own face right there on the front side!" He shakes his long yellow hair back with pride I ask him, "What about the climate, my dear?" He smiles and he speaks so there’s no doubt or fear: "Not a single thing, Mom! Just drill, mother, drill!" As he sweeps back his hair with a stubborn old will I ask about sickness, and curing the world As his wild little imagination unfurled "Inject disinfectant!" he yells with a shout "And rename the Gulf of Mexico, without a doubt! The Gulf of America is what it should be!" I look at my boy, and it’s frightening to me I think to myself, he is going too far My three-year-old boy wants to rule like a czar Oh, little Donnie, just three years old With a heart so aggressive and stories untold He looks in the mirror, he holds up his head "I’m gonna be President," is all that he said "And I want to go to war!" little Donnie screams out He jumps on the sofa and starts to dispute "I want a giant battleship named after me To sail all around and to conquer the sea! I want to start a giant war, no matter why! 'Operation Epic Disaster' will light up the sky!" I slowly shake my head as I look at his face Wondering how he became so out of place "So you want to be that big?" I ask with a sigh "Yes," says little Donnie, with fire in his eye "And I’ll throw a concert, the best in the land Where a man bigger than Elvis will take the stand! He’ll stand on the stage and he’ll hold power tight Without a guitar, just commanding the night!" My little Donnie, three years old The strangest story that’s ever been told
