Everybody got my number saved for when the sky falls, I’m the one they call before the tears hit the drywall. Bad day, good news, dumb meme, cute dog, They send it to me first like I’m the soft place to fall. If they win, I scream louder than they do, If they break, I sit quiet in the room. If something tiny makes their whole chest light, I act like it’s the best thing I’ve seen in my life. And I mean it, that’s the part that makes it worse, I can carry all their joy like it ain’t heavy work. I can laugh at stupid pictures, make the dark feel less true, But when I go home, I don’t know who I run to. [Pre-Hook] I built myself out of “I’m okay,” Stacked every smile like bricks in a wall. Now they think I’m made of steel, But I’m just tired of catching it all. [Hook] I’m everybody’s emergency contact, The voice they need when the night hits back. The first one clapping when their dreams come true, The last one standing when they fall in two. But inside me, it’s a black hole with black holes, A quiet kind of damage that nobody knows. I look like sunlight standing in the door, But I don’t feel warm anymore. [Verse 2] I’m the “text me when you get home” person, The “tell me everything, I swear it’s worth it.” The one who notices when the tone gets strange, Who reads three dots like a cry for change. I remember birthdays, court dates, bad dreams, Favorite snacks, dead pets, exes, family things. I know who needs space and who needs proof, Who wants a joke and who wants the truth. But nobody studies me like that, Nobody hears the crack under my laugh. They see the helper, the heart, the glue, Not the girl in the mirror asking, “Who saves you?” [Verse 3] I made strong look too believable, Made pain look pretty and manageable. Turned “I’m fine” into a full-time role, Then wondered why nobody checked my soul. I don’t blame them, I trained them too good, Smiled through storms like I knew that I should. Made a home in being needed so deep, I forgot I was allowed to need. So when I’m quiet, they think I’m busy, When I’m distant, they think I’m free. When I’m drowning, they call me the lifeboat, And I still answer like it ain’t killing me. [Bridge] I want someone to brag to me about me, Say they’re proud without needing a tragedy. I want a hand on my shoulder before I break, Not flowers sitting pretty by a nameplate. I want someone to notice the room got colder, Ask why my eyes look older, Sit with me without needing advice, Love me without making me useful first. [Final Hook] I’m everybody’s safe place, But I don’t feel safe in my own skin. I’m the happy voice in every hallway, With a whole collapsed sky tucked in. I’ll still cheer when they make it, Still cry when they win. Still call dumb things cute, Still let the whole world in. But God, I wish somebody knew The strong one gets scared too. And behind this smile I keep rehearsing, There’s a black hole inside a black hole hurting. [Outro] So this is for the ones who hold the room together, Then fall apart alone when nobody remembers. For the person everyone runs toward, Standing there empty, still opening the door. And if I disappear behind my own disguise, Tell them I wasn’t fake happy. I was just trying to keep everybody else alive.
