[Verse 1] Down in the oaks At the edge of the wood He wore a green hood And he moved like he should Silver coin purse From a lord's heavy hand He left bread for the poor And a grin for the band [Pre-Chorus] When the sheriff came close He was gone in the mist A quick little shadow With an arrow and a twist [Chorus] Robin Hood, prince of thieves Robin Hood, take from the greed Robin Hood, run wild and free Robin Hood, come ride with me Robin Hood, prince of thieves Robin Hood, break those chains for the weak Robin Hood, run wild and free Robin Hood, you can't catch me [Verse 2] Under bare branches By the mud and the stone He counted his brothers And he never stood alone A crust in your palm If your table was bare He laughed at the rich Like he never cared [Pre-Chorus] When the horn blew loud And the boots hit the trail He aimed for the lanterns And he bent every nail [Chorus] Robin Hood, prince of thieves Robin Hood, take from the greed Robin Hood, run wild and free Robin Hood, come ride with me Robin Hood, prince of thieves Robin Hood, break those chains for the weak Robin Hood, run wild and free Robin Hood, you can't catch me [Bridge] If the crown wants gold Let the crown bite dust He taught the lost ones How to turn pain to trust And if I’m in the dark With my back to the gate I’ll follow that green hood I’ll not be too late [Final Chorus] Robin Hood, prince of thieves Robin Hood, take from the greed Robin Hood, run wild and free Robin Hood, come ride with me Robin Hood, prince of thieves Robin Hood, break those chains for the weak Robin Hood, run wild and free Robin Hood, you can't catch me
