[Intro] Cold wind curls beneath the door Something waits across the floor [Chorus] When the spooks come out for Halloween Cloaked in scraps of midnight green Hear them tapping, soft and slow Where the crooked pumpkins glow When the spooks come out for Halloween Every locked door opens clean Hold your breath and count to ten They'll be gone, then back again [Verse] Your old porch swing begins to sway Though no one’s there to push today A paper mask slips down the stair And leaves a trail of frost in air The clock strikes twelve, the candles lean A pale hand waves behind the screen You call my name; the hallway sighs Two silver buttons blink for eyes [Chorus] When the spooks come out for Halloween Cloaked in scraps of midnight green Hear them tapping, soft and slow Where the crooked pumpkins glow When the spooks come out for Halloween Every locked door opens clean Hold your breath and count to ten They'll be gone, then back again [Bridge] Tiptoe past the attic hatch Don't let the little latch click back If you hear three knocks below Leave the porch light burning low [Final Chorus] When the spooks come out for Halloween Cloaked in scraps of midnight green Hear them tapping, soft and slow Where the crooked pumpkins glow When the spooks come out for Halloween Every locked door opens clean Hold your breath and count to ten They'll be gone, then back again [Outro] Cold wind curls beneath the door Something waits across the floor
