[Intro — forest ambience] [Low cinematic strings build slowly] [Female vocalist only] HER — sung, intimate and emotional: The old familiar path has changed, I haven't walked these lands since the elves held the helm. This forest used to be so bright, Now it is gloomed by a darkness I cannot name. I look behind, the ancient gates are gone, And I wonder if I am walking this path alone... [Sudden silence] [A deer suddenly bursts from the trees] [Branches crack violently] [Rapid hoofbeats race across the forest floor] [She turns toward the sound] [Heavy, dark tribal percussion begins] [Goblin voices only] [Harsh, raspy, primitive creature voices] [Rhythmic chanting] FIRST GOBLIN — chanted: Where did it go? Where did it run? SECOND GOBLIN — chanted: Forget the beast! Our hunt has just begun! FIRST GOBLIN — chanted: Look at the prize, standing right there... SECOND GOBLIN — chanted: A human alone in the cold forest air! [The goblins move toward her] [Heavy footsteps crush leaves] [Branches snap under their feet] [The pendant suddenly vibrates] [High-pitched magical ringing] [The goblin chanting stops] [Brief silence] [HER — female human voice only] [Clear, melodic, emotional singing] [No rasp] [No growling] [No creature voice] HER — sung, firmly: Stay in the shadows, do not come near. The magic I carry will cast out your fear. [Her voice remains clear and melodic] [The goblins snarl] [The goblins rush toward her] [Heavy footsteps] [Branches breaking] [A sudden sharp arrow whistle cuts through the air] [ARROW WHISTLES SHARPLY] [THUD!] [The first goblin is struck] [The goblin screams and crashes into the leaves] [The second goblin turns] [SECOND ARROW WHISTLES SHARPLY] [THUD!] [The second goblin is struck] [The second goblin drops hard into the leaves] [The tribal drums stop instantly] [Complete silence] [The deer disappears deeper into the forest] [Fast footsteps approach through the leaves] [RALNOR ENTERS] [Warm, clear male voice] [Calm and commanding] [Human male voice] [Never raspy] [Never guttural] [Never creature-like] RALNOR — spoken: Back off. [Long silence] [The forest wind returns softly] [Warm cinematic strings swell] [Subtle harp] [RALNOR — warm, clear male tenor] [Noble, mysterious, restrained] RALNOR — sung: You have a talent for finding the dark, In a forest where shadows leave a heavy mark. You need not tremble, you need not run, I am Ralnor Feywynn, Abarat's son. [HER — clear human female voice] [Intimate emotional singing] HER — sung: You appear from the shadows without a sound, Why do you follow me across this ground? [RALNOR — warm clear male tenor] [Smooth melodic singing] RALNOR — sung: This is the woodland where ancient things sleep, I am here for the promises we must keep. I am guiding your steps to the sacred shrine, Where the borders of your world will meet with mine. [Orchestral swell] [Strings and harp intertwine] [The music shifts into a steady walking rhythm] [HER — intimate emotional female voice] HER — sung: So you knew where I was going, you knew the way? [RALNOR — warm clear male tenor] RALNOR — sung: I only know the path where the spirits sway. [HER — female voice] HER — sung: I do not believe you, your words are a veil. [RALNOR — warm clear male tenor] RALNOR — sung: You don't have to trust me to finish this tale. [They continue walking] [Footsteps through leaves] [Branches brush against their clothes] [The forest slowly grows quieter] [The music gradually opens into warmer orchestration] [The trees begin to thin] [HER — female human voice] [Spoken softly] HER — spoken: Wait... [She stops] [The last trees fall behind them] [Open wind] [Far beyond the valley, sunlight suddenly flashes across white stone] [Long pause] [A single high violin note holds] [HER — female human voice] [Breathless] HER — spoken: What is that? [Silence] [RALNOR — warm clear male voice] [Quiet and controlled] RALNOR — spoken: The shrine. [The white stone catches the sunlight again] [The orchestra slowly rises] [One final warm chord] [Sudden CUT TO BLACK] [Silence]
