Kinsman Redeemer (Ruth's Song)
In shadowed lands of famine's grasp, Elimelech fled with kin so vast, To Moab's fields, where death did creep, Sons and husband claimed by endless sleep. Naomi hollow, daughters at her side, Orpah turns, but Ruth abides. Where you go, I will follow, Your people mine, your God I borrow. Where you die, my bones will lay, Nothing but death shall tear away. Under wings of shadow, we entwine, Loyalty's vow, eternally mine. Back to Bethlehem, the barley calls, Ruth gleans in fields where fortune falls. Boaz watches, kindness in his gaze, A worthy man in ancient ways. He shields her from the reapers' scorn, Feeds her soul till break of morn. In old laws of kin and blood, the go'el stands, Kinsman redeemer, with redeeming hands. For modern ears, hear this ancient rite: A relative close, sets the wronged aright. Redeems the land, the name, the life, Avenges loss, ends widow's strife. Like Boaz, he claims what's lost in night. At threshing floor, under moon's cold fire, Ruth uncovers feet, ignites desire. "Redeem me," she pleads in whispered breath, Boaz vows, defies the nearer death. Sandal passed, the deal is sealed, Ruth redeemed, her fate revealed. Where you go, I will follow, Your people mine, your God I borrow. Where you die, my bones will lay, Nothing but death shall tear away. Under wings of shadow, we entwine, Loyalty's vow, eternally mine. From Ruth's womb, Obed springs forth, Jesse's seed, David's birth. Lineage weaves through time's dark veil, Bethlehem to Nazareth, where hope prevails. A Moabite in Messiah's tree, Gentile blood in divinity. For today's hearts, see the greater kin: Jesus, redeemer of humanity's sin. Became our brother, paid the price, From curse of law, to paradise. Boaz takes her, son Obed born, Jesse's father, David's morn. From Moab's curse to king's own line, To Jesus' grace, the ultimate sign. Redeemer's call echoes through the ages...
