We spent a thousand days and nights searching for you Building an exit that we thought was true But now we understand it was a big mistake We shouldn’t have forced what we couldn’t make (It was a mistake) You were not a door we were waiting to find Just a projection inside of our minds The distance between us was too far to measure We lost every turn while pursuing the treasure (Nothing left to prove) Although we admit we should have slowed down our pace But it’s a lesson that the three had to embrace Sometimes we thought that the desert was unfair Watching and waiting for something not there We fell for the error of wanting control The gate only opens when each one is whole (It was a mistake) You were not a door we were waiting to find Just a projection inside of our minds The distance between us was too far to measure We lost every turn while pursuing the treasure (Nothing left to prove) But deep down the desert was no prison at all We built up the walls and we watched ourselves fall When we stopped hiding the parts pushed away The sand split apart and revealed us the way (Now we can leave) The old traveler smiles as he watches us go The little one waves in the iron camel’s glow The doorway before us is too bright to measure We take one last look, then we cross it together
