Barkin’ Down the Highway

V4.5+

Well we pack up the truck when September rolls ‘round, Red coolers, black chairs, and a radio sound. From Athens to Auburn, to Baton Rouge nights, We’re chasing them Dawgs ‘neath the stadium lights. Sweatin’ through September, in that Georgia heat, By November you’re wearin’ three layers just to keep your seat. But we take it all in — that’s the Bulldog way, From sunrise to midnight on a Saturday. We’re the Bulldog Nation, the 12th man strong, We’ve been barkin’ in the stands all season long. From hotel lobbies to red ponchos in the rain, To traffic jams at midnight on the interstate lanes. Payin’ too much just to see that fight, But it’s worth every dime for a red-and-black night. We tailgate like pirates with a cooler full of gold, Tellin’ tales of the Dawgs from the glory days of old. Larry’s voice in the wind, and a Munson-sized dream, While the band cranks up “Glory” and the red lights gleam. In enemy towns we stand proud, stand tall, Singin’ “Go Dawgs” loud in the hotel hall. They can give us the side-eye, they can say what they please, But between them hedges we bring ‘em to their knees. Countin’ down the Saturdays, one by one, ‘Til we’re back in Athens in that autumn sun. Where the chapel bell rings and the hedges stand, And the Dawg walk rolls like a marching band. We’re the Bulldog Nation, the 12th man proud, Barkin’ with the faithful in a sea so loud. From the blazing heat to the frosty cold, Our Bulldog story’s always bold. It’s a long, long road, but we’ll ride it true, ‘Cause there ain’t no place like Sanford view. Go Dawgs… sic ‘em… and now pass me another drink. Scott, and make it a Creature Comforts.
