[Intro] Hush now, hear the branches bend Something’s counting down again [Verse 1] The pumpkins grin from the windowsill While every porch on Briar Hill goes still A dog won’t cross the cemetery road And something tall walks where the cold winds blow [Pre-Chorus] Little claws tap the cellar door No one remembers what they came here for [Chorus] Monsters prowl when the clock strikes twelve Drag their long black coats through the leaves themselves Red eyes blink where the fog rolls through Halloween has a place for you Monsters prowl, better bar the room Hear them scratch out a crooked tune If they call your name, don’t answer back They’re already close, right behind the black [Verse 2] A scarecrow turns though the field is bare Small wet footprints climb the stairs The mirror shows a face that isn’t mine It smiles a second late every time [Pre-Chorus] Something laughs from the chimney throat Something hungry tugs at your winter coat [Chorus] Monsters prowl when the clock strikes twelve Drag their long black coats through the leaves themselves Red eyes blink where the fog rolls through Halloween has a place for you Monsters prowl, better bar the room Hear them scratch out a crooked tune If they call your name, don’t answer back They’re already close, right behind the black [Bridge] Under the bed, by the pantry wall In the old oak tree where the dead leaves fall Count to ten, keep your eyes shut tight They can smell a heartbeat in the night [Final Chorus] Monsters prowl when the clock strikes twelve Now they’ve found the house where you tried to hide yourself Red eyes blink and the door swings wide Halloween brought them inside Monsters prowl, hear the floorboards crack One cold hand curls around your back If they call your name, don’t answer back They’re already here—and the room goes black [Outro] Hush now, hear the branches bend Something’s counting down again
