Ch 15: Summit Special (Yodel Joys)

V6

Summit Special Verse 1 I reached the ridge at break of morning
Where earth and sky began to meet
The clouds were drifting through the valleys
Like rivers flowing at my feet
The wind that pushed against my shoulders
Now carried songs from far below
And every road I'd ever travelled
Appeared in ways I'd never known Pre-Chorus The Isles, the seas, the distant kingdoms
The towns I thought I'd left behind
Lay like pages of a story
Finally arranged in line Chorus And from the summit I could see
The road was never wandering
Every twist and every turning
Was leading somewhere I could not see All the signs I thought had fooled me
All the doors that would not yield
Were threads within a greater pattern
Sewn across the sky and field And I laughed into the morning
Like a prisoner finally free YODE-LAY-EE-OOOO!
YODE-LAY-EE-AY! The mountain wasn't hiding something YODE-LAY-EE-OOOO! The mountain helped me see Verse 2 I took the tinder from my pocket
The pilgrims' gift from days before
And lit a fire against the dawnlight
Beside the summit's silent stone
Then far below beyond the valleys
A thread of smoke began to rise
Answering the flame before me
Like an echo to the sky Pre-Chorus And suddenly I saw the mountain
In a way I'd never done
The cave below was not a stopping place The cave itself was home Chorus And from the summit I could see
The road was never wandering
Every twist and every turning
Was leading somewhere I could not see All the signs I thought had fooled me
All the doors that would not yield
Were threads within a greater pattern
Sewn across the sky and field And I laughed into the morning
Like a prisoner finally free YODE-LAY-EE-OOOO!
(echo from below)
YODE-LAY-EE-OOOO! YODE-LAY-EE-AY! The mountain wasn't hiding something YODE-LAY-EE-OOOO! The mountain helped me see Bridge The treasure wasn't on the summit
Nor buried underneath a stone
It lived among the faithful footsteps
Of those who made the journey home The lanterns glowed beside the pathways
The cave breathed softly in the dawn
And everything I thought was ending
Turned out to have been going on The smoke below replied in silence
The fire above replied the same
And for a moment all the journey
Seemed to speak my name Final Chorus And from the summit I could see
Every loss and every question
Had become part of the scenery
Every doubt and every lesson
Now shone brighter than before Not because they held the answers
But they led me to the door And I laughed into the morning
Like a prisoner finally free YODE-LAY-EE-OOOO!
YODE-LAY-EE-AY!
YODE-LAY-EE-OOOO!
YODE-LAY-EE-AY! The mountain wasn't hiding something YODE-LAY-EE-OOOO! The mountain helped me see The mountain helped me see YODE-LAY-EE-OOOO! The mountain helped me see YODE-LAY-EE-AY! The mountain helped me see Outro The smoke rose from the cave below
The morning stretched across the land
The road continued far beyond me
Further than I'd ever planned And somehow That was enough YODE-LAY-EE-OOOO... (distant echo) YODE-LAY-EE-OOOO... (far away, almost lost in the clouds) YODE-LAY-EE-AY... [as the final echo fades, a faint mechanical drone begins somewhere beyond the clouds. The Zeppelin.]
