I feel no hatred toward human beings. The citizens of the world are an inexhaustible source of culture and enrichment, sustained by infinite discoveries. We share a common trunk, and I feel solidarity with all human beings on this planet. They are people. I love the Russian people, the Ukrainian people, the North Korean people, the Palestinian people, the Jewish people, the American people, my fellow Canadians, the Iranian people, the Chinese people, whether from Taiwan or the mainland. I could name in the same way the peoples of all the citizens of the Earth. What troubles me now are the heads of state of several major world powers, and their tendency to allow themselves to be bought, to let their decisions be influenced by the arms lobby. They endanger the fragile balance of the planet. They are often toxic to others and to their own people. They are the ones I fear. I do not understand why they are pushing humanity toward a third world war. I love hockey. In it, I imagine battles worthy of medieval times. I invent heroes there, knights, belligerents, false sorcerers and false monsters. Because I know that the managers of the clubs seek above all to produce a good sporting spectacle and to entertain us. I also know that hockey players are very good people who earn their living with difficulty, because hockey is a strategic game of performance and contact. Players who, like the performers at medieval fairs, traveled from city to city to amuse the civic crowds and make us dream. With them, I imagine clashes of Titans for the love of the sport. My friends, let us leave it at that. Let us not allow certain heads of state to endanger human lives for the whims of billionaires.
