The Sword and the Stone [STTZ MM Challenge]

[STTZ - Mentor Mashup - Weekly Challenge] https://suno.com/playlist/8fa14b7f-cc02-4bce-87b3-02b9b6134c0a Tried to make something special for my first song to the StorytellerZ discord. My residence of Wales is the origin of the legends of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table (Y Gododdin c. 600 AD). The Sword in the Stone was an adaptation written by French romantics in the 1500s ("Merlin" by Robert de Boron c. 1200 AD). So have brought my retelling of this popular story, with some Welsh language lyrics for you all today (unfortunately Suno doesn't do Welsh very well! So I've adapted this as best I can to make it sound like the real Welsh words). If you enjoy this and are interested in hearing more, please tell me! I enjoyed putting this story together and think a series of Arthurian legend folk songs would be fun to do. Enjoy friends <3 ---------------------------- [Verse 1] The river lies there softly The mud has turned to stone The hares are in the burrow The king is yet unknown The nobles 'round the table The wine is spilling out They boast of ancient battles With a heavy, drunken shout [Pre-Chorus - Welsh] A thu allan yn y cwrt (And outside the courtyard) O dan y gwelw loer (The winter night asleep) Roedd y cleddyf yno'n aros (The iron sword is waiting) Yn y garreg oer (The blade was buried deep) [Chorus - Welsh] Ni symud hi i gyhyr (It will not move for muscle) Ni symud hi i'r aur (It will not move for gold) Mae'n cysgu yn y tawelwch (It sleeps inside the silence) Ar y rhewllyd lawr (And the winter cold) Ni elli brynu'r haearn (You cannot bribe the iron) Na'i gymryd trwy dy gais (You cannot force the choice) Mae'n aros yno'n dawel (It stays there simply resting) Am y tawel lais (For a quiet voice) [Verse 2] Sir Kay put on his gauntlets He stepped up to the blade He pulled until the leather cracked But the iron disobeyed King Urien brought a hammer To break the stone apart His blows brought sparks and thunder But they didn't leave a mark [Pre-Chorus - Welsh] A thu allan yn y cwrt (And outside the courtyard) O dan y gwelw loer (The winter night asleep) Roedd y cleddyf yno'n aros (The iron sword is waiting) Yn y garreg oer (The blade was buried deep) [Chorus - Welsh] Ni symud hi i gyhyr (It will not move for muscle) Ni symud hi i'r aur (It will not move for gold) Mae'n cysgu yn y tawelwch (It sleeps inside the silence) Ar y rhewllyd lawr (And the winter cold) Ni elli brynu'r haearn (You cannot bribe the iron) Na'i gymryd trwy dy gais (You cannot force the choice) Mae'n aros yno'n dawel (It stays there simply resting) Am y tawel lais (For a quiet voice) [Verse 3] Then crept a boy from the stables In a cloak of hemp and hay He bore no look of noblemen Or a king on grand display He clasped the hilt so deftly With a grip as soft as wool The sword slid out so gently With just a single pull [Final Pre-Chorus - Welsh] Mae'r cwrt nawr yn ddistaw (Now silence filled the courtyard) Dim dyfnach yn y lawr (No longer buried deep) Deffrodd y cleddyf haearn (The iron sword was woken) O'i gwsg cyn y wawr (Arose from ancient sleep) [Final Chorus - Welsh] Mae'r garreg yno'n wag (The stone is standing empty) Yr haearn bia'r dewis (The iron made its choice) Fe atebodd i'r alwad (It answered to the summons) Llais y sgweier melys (Of the young squire's voice) Mae'r bonedd yn clywed sŵn (The nobles hear commotion) Yn torri'r cylch yn rhydd (The nobles break their ring) Penlinio i'r bachgen mwyn... (Kneeling to the gentle boy...)
