The Drain Will Sing Again
Cling, drip, rot, bind — I breathe in your oil, your hair, your skin. What you flushed never left. It built me. Peels, crumbs, sauces congeal. Fat clings like memory — Bread molded into prayers, Fishbones whispering in oil. I am your penance. Scraping the sins of appetite Into rivers that don’t forgive — But carry. Always carry. Sing, flow, rise again In every drop, a name remains Sing, flow, rinse the pain Nothing truly goes away But we can be clean We can begin Wash the weight, not the past Let the water remember — Let it pass. Rust lines trace your hunger A feast decays beneath the sink Leftovers coil like snakes Gnawing the pipe from inside out. The drain dreams in grease Gagging on bone What you forgot — Still grows. Still — A seed falls Even in grease And dares to grow. Sing, flow, rise again Let the darkness rinse away Sing, flow, live again The drain will sing — Even if we drown again.
