Through the wilderness they wandered, Till the mountain filled the sky. Thunder rolled across the summit, Fire burned before their eyes. Moses climbed into the darkness, Past the smoke and trumpet sound. Israel waited in the valley. None could touch The holy ground. FORTY DAYS! FORTY NIGHTS! Hidden in the cloud and fire! FORTY DAYS! FORTY NIGHTS! High upon the mountain spire! Stone and flame! Word and law! Written by The hand of God! FORTY DAYS! FORTY NIGHTS! In the cloud the words were given, Covenant in stone was made. Command by command was spoken, Law that Israel must obey. Down below the people waited, Watching Sinai burn above. Days became Unending silence. Faith was turning Into doubt. Where is Moses? Where has he gone? Why does the mountain Hold him so long? Forty days. Forty nights. And still He did not come. FORTY DAYS! FORTY NIGHTS! Tablets carried from the fire! FORTY DAYS! FORTY NIGHTS! Moses started down from Sinai! Stone in hand, He walked below. But from the valley... Rose a sound Of blasphemy!
