Glass Balcony

[Intro] High above the street noise hum We live behind a sheet of sun [Verse 1] You lean your shoulders on the sliding door City reflected in your collarbones Cars like veins in the concrete floor Everyone moving, but we stand postponed Neighbors’ windows blinking open eyes Television blues on their private storms We keep our arguments thin and light For the people staring from their storms [Pre Chorus] We’re framed in glass like a borrowed scene Two silhouettes in a magazine You take a drag from the empty air Practice your smile for the strangers there [Chorus] On this glass balcony Everyone can see through me Every tender, ugly part Pressed against the clear front yard On this glass balcony You look perfect, I look weak We are hanging over town Scared to jump and scared climb down [Verse 2] Taxi roofs glitter in the distant lane Someone laughs in a different life We pose our bodies like we’re not afraid Hands at our sides, edited light You say "It’s nothing, they’re just below" But I feel eyes from a thousand floors Every secret we tried to grow Wilts under the careful voyeur stars [Refrain] Wave at the people you’ll never meet They get a better angle of us than we do [Chorus] On this glass balcony Everyone can see through me Every tender, ugly part Pressed against the clear front yard On this glass balcony You look perfect, I look weak We are hanging over town Scared to jump and scared climb down [Bridge] If we step back into the darkened room Would we be truer with no one to prove Or did we build this entire thing For the reflection and not the skin Maybe our love is a window show Dressed for the angles, staged for the glow If all they see is a flawless frame Why do I feel so exposed and strange [Chorus] On this glass balcony Everyone can see through me Every tremor, every doubt Lit up like a weathered shout On this glass balcony You look perfect, I look weak We are hanging over town Afraid to fall, afraid to be found [Outro] Curtain flutters, city keeps on We step inside, but the view holds on
