Empathy - Draft
[Intro] [Spoken] Act 1 - The Fortress [Act 1] I built these walls with righteous pride, My truth the only truth inside. Each brick a certainty, each stone A lesson learned, a path well-known. But walls that shelter also blind, And keep the whole world out of mind. [Refrain] I think I have a monopoly on what's right [Interlude] [Spoken] Act 2 - The Encounter [Refrain] A chance encounter on the street, A stranger's smile, so bitter-sweet. Their eyes alight with joy so pure, It shakes the ground I thought so sure. How can they shine with such delight? When all I know says I am right? [Refrain] There must be something I'm missing because I must be right [Interlude] [Spoken] Act 3 - The Quake [Act 3] My fortress trembles, starts to sway, As doubt creeps in and steals away The certainty I held so dear. Now all I feel is growing fear. What if the world is more than this? What truths and joys did I dismiss? [Refrain] What if there's something I'm wrong about? [Spoken] Act 4 - The Fall [Verse] Brick by brick, my walls come down, Each certainty becomes a question. In rubble of my former crown, I stand amidst my own reflection. In empty space where walls once stood, I feel the wind of 'maybe' and 'could'. [Refrain] I may not see it yet, but it seems I might be wrong. [Interlude] [Spoken] Act 5 - The Void [Act 5] Untethered now, I drift in space, No North or South, no set embrace. The vertigo of freedom spins, As where I end and world begins Becomes a blur of you and me, Of what is and what could be. [Refrain] I no longer know what is actually right. [melodic power dance Interlude] [Spoken] Act 6 - New Growth [Act 6] From cracks in my foundation's floor, New seedlings reach towards something more. Each tender shoot, a new idea, Grows stronger as I face my fear. In soil of doubt, truth blooms anew, Nourished by a wider view. [Refrain] I'm learning how to become right when I'm not [Spoken] Act 7 - The Bridge [Bridge] Where once stood walls, I'm building bridges, Spanning chasms, linking ridges. Each plank a shared experience laid, Each rope a common ground we've made. The other side, no longer strange, Becomes a chance for interchange. [Refrain] I corrected one thing, I wonder if there's more [Interlude] [Interlude] [Spoken] Act 8 - The Harmony [Act 8] Now in the symphony of life, I hear the beauty born of strife. Each voice unique, yet part of whole, A chorus of the human soul. In difference, we find our art, In sharing, heal each broken part. [Refrain] There's so much I don't know, I hope I'm right enough [Spoken] Act 9 - The Open Heart [Outro] My fortress gone, my heart stands bare, Vulnerable, yet free to care. For in the end, what makes us one Is not the battles that we've won, But how we've learned to understand And hold each other, hand in hand. In empathy, we find our grace, In open hearts, our resting place. I'll never be right about everything, and that's ok
