Firefly August

Shimmering summer house groove with bright plucks, bouncy sidechained synths, and a tight four-on-the-floor kick, female vocals sit glossy on top with airy stacks in the chorus, filtered builds into big drops, and a smiling, sun-drenched energy across the whole track, electronic

[Verse 1] Salt on my lips Sand in my shoes You laughed Said "Girl You’ve got nothing to lose" Sunburnt shoulders Your hoodie on me Cherry ice cream Dripping down to the sea [Chorus] You’re my firefly August Fading on my skin Every little glance you toss Pulls me back again If this is just a summer love Then let it stay like this You taste like late July And sunscreen on my wrist (oh) [Verse 2] Towels in the backseat Radio too loud Sneaking past the guardrail Far away from town Tracing constellations On my freckled arm You said "Promise you’ll remember When it’s not this warm" [Chorus] You’re my firefly August Fading on my skin Every little glance you toss Pulls me back again If this is just a summer love Then let it stay like this You taste like late July And sunscreen on my wrist (yeah, yeah) [Bridge] Will we still talk When the leaves turn red? Your name like a seashell Rattling in my head Maybe we melt With the heat we made But I’d do it all again For one more fading day [Chorus] You’re my firefly August Fading on my skin Every little glance you toss Pulls me back again If this is just a summer love Let it hurt like this You taste like late July And sunscreen on my wrist (mmm) My firefly August I’m glad we took the risk
