ᗩᘻᗩᘉᕲᗩᘿᘻᓍ᙭ᓰᖶᗩ - The Velvet Shadow (Original)

A slow, dramatic torch song about a love that haunts like a ghost. (Verse 1) The streetlamps flicker in the misty gray The jukebox plays a tune from yesterday I hold a cigarette, the smoke rings rise And format pictures of your haunting eyes But you’ve been gone since the winter chill (Chorus) Oh, the velvet shadow falls across my heart A retro tragedy right from the start The needle skips upon the vinyl track Replaying promises that won't come back My darling, why did we part? (Verse 2) I walk the boardwalk where we used to spin To neon signs where the dark rolls in The midnight tide is whispering your name A lonely echo in a losing game The ocean handles my tears tonight (Chorus) Oh, the velvet shadow falls across my heart A retro tragedy right from the start The needle skips upon the vinyl track Replaying promises that won't come back My darling, why did we part? (Verse 3) The lipstick traces on a porcelain cup Are all you left before the sun came up A crimson ghost in a tuxedo town Where all the happy melodies go down I wear my mourning in a polka-dot gown (Chorus) Oh, the velvet shadow falls across my heart A retro tragedy right from the start The needle skips upon the vinyl track Replaying promises that won't come back My darling, why did we part? (Verse 4) The clock strikes three inside the empty lounge Where broken dreamers come to sit and lounge The bartender just shakes his heavy head At all the lovely words we should have said Before the shadows turned to gold (Chorus) Oh, the velvet shadow falls across my heart A retro tragedy right from the start The needle skips upon the vinyl track Replaying promises that won't come back My darling, why did we part? (Verse 5) So lock the doors and let the static play I'll dance with shadows till the break of day A final spin under the gothic moon To our forgotten, dusty little tune Goodbye, my sweet, eternal thrill (Chorus) Oh, the velvet shadow falls across my heart A retro tragedy right from the start The needle skips upon the vinyl track Replaying promises that won't come back My darling, why did we part? (Chorus) Oh, the velvet shadow falls across my heart A retro tragedy right from the start The needle skips upon the vinyl track Replaying promises that won't come back My darling, why did we part?
