The Keys

[Verse 1] Started with a jingle that wasn't around Everybody noticed when it stopped makin' sound Tony reached down to grab his ring And suddenly nobody heard a thing Supervisor froze, manager stared Half the warehouse looked plain scared You'd think somebody shut off the lights The way folks acted over keys that night [Pre-Chorus] Nobody knew what all of 'em fit But everybody knew we needed 'em quick [Chorus] The keys! The keys! Somebody find Tony's keys! Gate keys, dock keys, office door Nobody's sure what the rest are for The keys! The keys! Warehouse emergency! When that giant ring went missin' away Productivity dropped three points that day [Verse 2] Rumors spread from dock to dock One guy swore they opened the time clock Another said they fit every cage Including one torn down in ninety-eight One old timer leaned back and grinned Said, "Those keys unlock dimensions, friend." Nobody laughed, nobody joked Because honestly... nobody really knows [Pre-Chorus] The longer they stayed out of sight The bigger the legend grew that night [Chorus] The keys! The keys! Somebody find Tony's keys! Trash gate, tool crib, battery room Maybe the secret of warehouse doom The keys! The keys! Industrial mystery! Everybody searched from wall to wall Nobody found a thing at all [Bridge] We checked lockers We checked desks We checked places that made no sense Inside totes Behind racks Even searched the supervisor's snacks Then from somewhere across the floor... [SFX] CLUNK... A steel-toe boot. [Spoken] "Was that Tony?" [Spoken] "I didn't see him." [Spoken] "But I heard him." [Instrument Break] [Final Chorus] The keys! The keys! Somebody find Tony's keys! Every aisle and every zone Searchin' for a legend of his own The keys! The keys! Warehouse mythology! If we ever find that ring again We're countin' every key on it then [Outro] The search rolled on through the afternoon With rumors growin' bigger by the minute or two And somewhere hidden beyond plain sight Tony was probably workin'... just outta sight.
