N/O/LL: Signal Spud In the Wire V2
[Fade In] [Instrumental Intro] [Intro] He moves through the raincode, Roots on the grate. A grin in the blackout, a pulse in the gate. They call him the NOLL, A spud who took a stand. And he keeps a small fire in the dirt of this land. He splices the hush with a stolen refrain, turns fear into signal, turns rust into rain. [Verse 1] He cuts the noise, he bends the stream Turns static scars to future dreams In shelter halls and alley doors His signal wakes what fear was for Old folks cry, the kids lean in Like dawn got caught beneath their skin He maps the dark and makes it sing A small bright signal of a russet machine [Pre-Chorus] And the towers wake up, one by one. He says, “Hold on, look what I’ve done.” [Chorus] NOLL is the spud (keeps us alive) NOLL is the signal (we still survive) He hacks the grid, lets the hope run through NOLL is the signal coming back to you [Interlude] And the screens all swallow green He throws a line through every wall So the broken hearts can hear it all [Instrumental Drop] [Verse 2] Spud in the wires, planting hope in the bleed He taps the dark glass, makes the towers sing Turns cold code warm with a trembling ring [Pause] Every broken window gets a pulse of blue And every tired face gets a reason to move He rides the grid like a stolen train Through dead-end towers and a flooded lane Sends a bassline out through the broken mesh Till the folks on the stairwell start to catch their breath [Bridge] He patches old heartbreak into market-band wires, sends songs through the towers like first-aid for tires. On a train full of faces gone blank from the grind, he drops a warm chorus right into their minds. A kid on the platform smiles through the smoke, a mother in the stairwell remembers the joke. [Pre-Chorus] And the towers wake up, one by one. He says, “Hold on, look what I’ve done.” [Chorus] NOLL is the spud (keeps us alive) NOLL is the signal (we still survive) He hacks the grid, lets the hope run through NOLL is the signal coming back to you [Interlude] People nod when the pulse rolls by A worker wipes smoke from a sleep-starved eye He remaps sorrow to a brighter track Then leaves the whole city a piece to pack [Instrumental Drop] [Verse 3] He is the Spud, he is the signal A ghost with a bright-cut spark Every stolen note he fires Finds a window in the dark If the world goes cold and brutal He can still make one thing true A city full of bent-up hearts Can stand back up for you [Verse 4] He sends a choir through the static hiss, a syncopated prayer in a city like this. Kids on the roofs start shouting back, old hands nod slow when the blackouts crack. He translates the noise into a human song, says "You still here? Then we go on." From the basement hum to the market square, every tired heart gets a pulse in there. [Outro] When the night gets heavy, when the crowd goes thin, he opens the channel and the light pours in. If the towers lean and tremble If the screens go cold He sends a tune through the fault lines Says, "Hold on, hold on!" Every broken room remembers Every tired heart can call When the whole grid forgets you NOLL is there for all No crown, no throne, just a starch on the line, one beat for the broken, one pulse at a time. [Fade out]
