Comfort & Joy (Pt. II)

[Intro – Spoken over clavinet and bass groove] “Yeah, I know they told you to rest merry… But it’s hard to rest when the rent’s late, the baby’s cryin’, and the world’s cold. But I got news, good news…” [Verse 1 – Lead Vocal] God rest ye weary people now, Let not your hearts dismay, Remember Christ our Savior Was born on Christmas Day— To save us all from heartache, From doubt and midnight fear, So rise up, rise up children, Your soul’s revival’s near— [Chorus – Full Band + Choir] 🎶 Tidings of comfort and joy, uh huh, comfort and joy— 🎶 Tidings of funky, sweet comfort and joy! [Verse 2 – Funk Breakdown] The angels didn’t whisper, nah— They sang it bold and bright, With horns and holy rhythm, They funked up silent night. Shepherds left their flocks behind, To catch the heaven show, Now every brother, every sister, Feel that trumpet blow— [Chorus – Call & Response] 🎤 What you bringin’? — Comfort and joy! 🎤 What you singin’? — Comfort and joy! 🎤 Tell the people! — Peace on Earth, good will! 🎤 That’s the deal! — Let the spirit thrill! [Bridge – Gospel Breakdown with Organ Swells] 🎶 No gift too small, no soul too low, 🎶 He came to love us all, you know! 🎶 So lift your head, get off that floor, 🎶 That baby boy came through the door— 🎶 Of every shack, every soul in need, 🎶 With funk and grace, and holy speed! [Final Chorus – Full Soul Choir] 🎶 Tidings of comfort and joy, uh huh, comfort and joy— 🎶 Let every street and stoop rejoice! 🎶 Tidings of funky, deep comfort and joy— 🎶 Say it now! Say it proud! Make some noise! [Outro – Spoken over vamp] “That manger didn’t just hold a child… It held a revolution in a blanket. So walk tall, hold fast— You got comfort. You got joy. You got soul.”
