The Village Beneath The Great Tree #2

"Once upon a Christmas Eve Night... There was a great tree, shrouded in sparkles, ribbons, lights and all sorts of wonderful ornaments and critters. It stood so proud and tall, like a mighty king of old with a golden star perched at the very top, like a crown." "But at the very bottom of the tree, was a little village that was always blanketed in snow. Regardless of how small it was, the people that lived there had big spirits and great cheer inside and all about, almost as great as the tree they lived underneath. This village was called Little Pinesworth, a warm welcoming beacon beneath the tree's bristly, yet sparkly branches." "Everything ran like clockwork, people were always on time and they always got to their destination. A small railway weaved in and out of tunnels and hills, pulling carriages, carrying presents, materials and other goods along it's single line without delay or fuss." "On this particular night, everyone was practically humming with excitement and anticipation, for it was only a few more hours left until Christmas Day, where their makers would be in merriment and celebrating with food and drink of their own, talking, laughing and singing with such joy..." "Our story however pivots to two individuals who stood out from the crowd more often than not." "Two brothers: Cecil and Emmett. They usually stayed together outside, cracking jokes, telling stories and sometimes making mischief." "Cecil, the older brother was the best at telling stories and cheering people up, but his knack for trickery often got him into trouble. As for the young Emmett, he was quieter, a tad more on the shy side. He carries around with him what he calls his 'lucky lantern'. According to Cecil, he would use it as a night light to keep ghosts and ghouls at bay while he slept, even though the others would laugh it off and call the whole ordeal silly." "Despite this, the people appreciated their company and they often exchanged stories of what they all believed lived above them on the great tree. And just like the rest of Little Pinesworth, the two brothers were eagerly awaiting the holidays, counting down the hours, the minutes and even the seconds until Christmas Day..."
