Teekie not scary Teekie just different color Teekie only want befriend Why nobody want be friend with Teekie? Up in tree Teekie have small house Made from leaf and rope and old wood plank Down below forest friends all waiting Little bird Little fox Little one with broken leg Teekie bring them food Teekie make them warm Teekie sing them song when big storm come Nobody heard them here Nobody call them wrong Teekie keep them safe long as Teekie strong Moon come up Teekie not alone Fireflies say good night before they go This the only home Teekie ever know This the only love Teekie ever get Maybe Teekie small Maybe Teekie weird to you But every little creature here They know what Teekie do They don't run from Teekie They don't call her beast In forest Teekie finally get to be at peace Sometimes forest friends get sick Need medicine Sometimes little ones need blanket Need something warm to eat So Teekie climb down mountain Walk into big city Where the tall building touch the sky And everybody look at Teekie funny Teekie try say hello Teekie try to wave But mommy pull her child away And nanny start to shout Teekie don't know what Teekie do wrong Teekie don't know why Teekie just won't find bandage, find bread, then go back home and hide Somebody throw bottle, somebody call Teekie name, not nice name Teekie run, hide behind trash can, heart go boom boom same-same White human scared of Teekie, Teekie never hurt nobody Teekie just look different, that the only crime Teekie got So Teekie learned to move like shadow, learned to take and go Learned that city full of people, but city not for Teekie though She get what she need, she run back up the hill Back to the ones who love Teekie, just how Teekie is Teekie still leave the good fruit by the city fence, you know Even after they throw the bottle Even after they scream and run away Teekie think maybe one day They not scared no more Teekie think maybe kindness like seed must keep planting Even when ground say no Teekie try so hard to be good Nobody teach Teekie this Teekie just know Teekie just want be friend Why that so hard to understand?
