[Verse] I shun the light It cuts like a knife The dark is my heart My pulse My life Day-walkers dart They’ll never understand Embrace the night It’s at your command [Prechorus] I see the stars They guide my flight No sun to burn No blinding light [Chorus] I’m a creature of the night I thrive in the shade In the velvet dark Where dreams are made Daylight’s a curse It cuts like a blade Come to the shadows Don’t be afraid [Verse 2] Day-walkers stare They’ll never know The beauty found where shadows grow The night’s a cloak It hides It saves The sun's a tyrant The dark behaves [Prechorus] The sun’s a thief It steals my air But the moon It knows my every prayer [Chorus] I’m a creature of the night I thrive in the shade In the velvet dark Where dreams are made Daylight’s a curse It cuts like a blade Come to the shadows Don’t be afraid [Bridge] The sun’s a fire It scars my skin The dark’s a lover It pulls me in Day-walkers stare They’ll never see The night’s the only truth for me
